Dog in Pajamas Getting Stuck Inside Blanket Goes Viral: 'Accepted His Fate'
These days, dogs are treated more like children than pets, so this Doberman pinscher's bedtime request may not come as a surprise to many.
Norman, the dog, "insists on sleeping with his whole body under the blanket," reads the TikTok clip caption. But this means getting him up and out in the morning can be a struggle, as seen in the video that has over 10.7 million views.
The footage shows the canine's attempt to get off the bed but with great difficulty as he is tangled in the blanket. Almost one minute later, Norman is able to join his male companion, who can be heard telling the dog to "get up" from behind the camera.
This amusing clip, shared by Jenna Hyde—likely the man's partner and the dog's owner—on her account (@jennahyde_), has garnered more than 1.6 million likes in just two days since its posting on August 31.
"It took him 7 working business days," posted one user, and another added: "He was fighting for his life."
"It was the part where he just laid down and accepted his fate for a few seconds that got me," wrote a third commenter, referring to the moment where Norman decided to lie back down.
"Sir your bed is possessed by a very clumsy ghost," added a fourth user, and a fifth asked, "is he wearing Pajamas too?" to which his owner confirmed he is.
While the thought of leaving your pet to sleep alone may seem out of the question, research has revealed that it could improve your sleep. Last year, The American Academy of Sleep Medicine revealed one-third of 2,005 Americans "always or often" experience disrupted sleep due to their pets.
Newsweek previously spoke to experts about sleeping with dogs, and they said that there are benefits but there are also notable drawbacks.
Veterinarian Dr. Bethany Hsia, co-founder of CodaPet, said: "Sharing a bed with your dog can be an enjoyable experience, offering numerous benefits for both you and your dog," such as the following:
- It can strengthen the bond between you.
- They can naturally help reduce stress and anxiety.
- Having a dog in the room while you sleep can provide an added layer of security against intruders or other potential threats.
However, in this instance, Norman isn't exactly the most vigilant guard dog, as pointed out by one user whose comment garnered over 56,000 likes.
The post read: "At this point the burglars have driven off with half the furniture."
While cuddling with a dog at night can be soothing, it has its drawbacks, like sleep disruptions from snoring or fidgeting; and it might contribute to separation anxiety, making it difficult for the pet to cope when left alone.
Newsweek reached out to @jennahyde_ for comment via TikTok. We could not verify the details of the case.
