Woman Baffled by Dad's New Pet, a 'Goblin That's Pretending To Be a Dog'

A woman from the U.K. has left the internet in stitches with a video describing her dad's new dog.

In the video shared on TikTok in June, under the username @stumbling.through.oxford, the pup can be seen hiding under a fluffy mat while snuggling with the rug, as the poster calls her out to play.

"My dad just got a new puppy, and I don't know how to describe her except she looks like a goblin that's pretending to be a dog," the poster explains.

"And she sounds like a dog that's pretending to sound like a child that's pretending to sound like a goblin. So, all round, I just think she's a goblin."

In the video, the pup can be heard emitting small ominous growls that seem to echo from the back of a cave.

The poster, Erin Broadhurst, told Newsweek that the puppy, who was formerly known as Gabby, has since been renamed Belle, and she is an Italian greyhound who belongs to her dad and lives in South Wales.

"She loves running around the garden at the speed of light, walking through the black mountains and burying herself in blankets!" she said about Belle.

Italian greyhounds are very loyal pets who love cuddling and are easy to train. They are a very athletic breed and can run up to 25 miles per hour, according to dog wellness experts at website Dogster.

These dogs have been around for over 2,000 years, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC), which explains that the breed was already present and treasured during the Roman Empire in the Mediterranean.

Although they may not look as small, Italian greyhounds belong to the toy group, which includes typically tiny dogs including Chihuahuas and Yorkshire terriers. They are among the largest members of the group due to their long legs and slender body features.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 1.2 million views and 154,200 likes on the platform.

One user, Surviving.out.of.spite, commented: "You described the sound so perfectly, yet somehow I still wasn't prepared for the cute little puppy to actually sound like a goblin."

Joyce Rossi said: "I thought you were being mean. I saw it thought No that's a puppy...then it made that noise and yes it a goblin."

Casey wrote: "Legit the cutest Goblin baby, I'm not sure what I expected when you described her, but I went from laughing to AWWWWH so damn quick."

Lili.jpg added: "We literally call this game 'goblins' with our Italian greyhound, so much so that even the word 'goblin' turns him into goblin mode."
