Laughter As Owner Realizes Cat and Lizard Had a 'Freaky Friday' Moment

Cats often sleep in peculiar places, but one owner has amazed the internet by revealing the unusual spot her feline claimed as her own—but it wasn't so great for the pet lizard.

The hilarious video was posted on TikTok by user Ashley Ann (@ashl3y_ann) showing the moment she wandered into her home and noticed that the cat, named Zoey, wasn't in her usual perch by the window. Indeed, Zoey had made herself quite comfortable inside the lizard's glass tank, laying underneath the heat lamp and enjoying the warmth it offers.

But that left the TikToker with one key question: "where's Tom?" She looked around the room for her pet lizard, only to spot him on the cushion by the window where Zoey would normally be. Zoey and Tom didn't look too unhappy about swapping places, as they both seemed to enjoy their new perches.

The discovery has delighted social media users, generating over 2.4 million views and more than 104,700 likes on TikTok at the time of writing.

Many owners might have spotted their cat endlessly sunbathing or sleeping as close as possible to the radiator whenever it's on. It's no surprise that they love to embrace the warmth, as Brown Veterinary Hospital in Indiana explains that a cat's natural body temperature should be around 100.5 to 102.5 degrees Fahrenheit. As that's substantially warmer than humans, what we might think is a comfortable room temperature, they would prefer to be much warmer.

But that isn't the only reason, as the veterinary hospital also suggests that feeling warm is a psychological comfort for cats, as it provides a sense of security and wellbeing for them. It's a good idea for owners to create plenty of warm spots for their cats, whether that's with some blankets or a sunspot on the porch.

As much as they love the heat, cats can overdo it so they must also have places where they can cool down, after all, they shouldn't be toasting themselves in the heat all the time.

Responding to the hundreds of comments on her viral TikTok video, Ashley Ann explained that Zoey "does this all the time," and she certainly looks comfortable when she makes herself at home for a nap.

In another reply, she explained: "It's so cute to walk by and see Zoey in there. I have another kitty that does it too. He's like triple her size though, so he takes up half the tank. Most times they go in there while Tom is in there."
