Hearts Melt As Cat Distribution System Finds Woman: 'Been Waiting Forever'
The cat distribution system works in mysterious ways to unite people with four-legged friends. Many might hope that it finds them some day, but one woman has gone viral after revealing how she unexpectedly became one of its latest targets.
TikTok user Samantha (@geronimo4x) captured footage of the moment she got out of her car to find a small kitten in the street. The tiny feline looked lost and nervous when Samantha approached, but she didn't hesitate to bring her home.
Samantha said that this was the moment she had "been chosen" by the notorious cat distribution system, i.e. when fate helps a cat in need find a suitable and loving owner at random.
After the TikTok video was shared on May 28, it has melted many hearts online, leading to more than 9.5 million views and over 1.3 million likes so far. Alongside the sweet footage, the caption reads: "When your life is in chaos and that cat distribution system says, here's a kitty."
How To Handle a Mystery Cat
If ever you encounter a stray or mystery cat outside, the Humane Society suggests looking for any clues of the cat's status—including a collar, ear tip, microchip and its overall body condition. It's also helpful to consider the cat's level of socialization to determine whether it's used to being around people and is therefore more likely to be a pet.
The cat could be lost or just a free-roaming pet that got farther away than usual, alternatively it could be a community cat (sterilized or unsterilized).
Regardless of how friendly the cat may be, the Humane Society recommends wearing bite-resistant gloves because they can lash out in fear, and although it is uncommon, there is still a risk of rabies.
How Did TikTok React?
Samantha was delighted by her discovery, and she's shared numerous follow-up videos of her newest bestie. Indeed, she took the kitten home and introduced it to her other cats. She's now been given the name Laynie and looks very happy and is progressing well in her new home.
Since sharing the video on TikTok to reveal how she found the newest addition to the family, Samantha has been inundated with over 3,500 comments on the post. One comment reads: "The kitten distribution system strikes again!"
Another TikTok user wrote: "The universe decided you're getting a kitten."
While another person responded: "I've been waiting forever for the cat distribution system...when will it happen for me?"
