Boxer Puppy Sees Himself on Phone Camera, Chaos Ensues
A dog owner looking to take a cute video of her puppy got more than she bargained for when he recognized himself in the camera, seemingly for the first time.
Imogen, 23, is a student in Greater Manchester, England, and the proud owner of boxer puppy Lennox.
She and her pup recently went viral when she shared a clip to her TikTok account @imo_bailey, and as she told Newsweek: "Boxers always have the best personality and I knew people online would love that and relate to it as well."
The video, shared to her account on August 15—with another second on August 16—showed what happened when she "tried to get a cute video of him playing with his toy."
It showed Lennox leaping at a toy before suddenly stopping and apparently realizing there was a dog looking back at him from the phone. And immediately he pounced, jumping at the phone and barking.
Growling, jumping and looking up at Imogen for reassurance, Lennox bravely protected his owner from the strange puppy in the camera.
The second longer video shows that Lennox eventually stopped—only when Imogen ordered him to sit, and reassured him with pats as she turned off the camera.
Their viral video racked up over 89,000 likes, with plenty of animal lovers leaving adoring comments. One wrote on the update: "There isn't a better dog than a boxer."
"Beautiful little baby," another said, while one pointed out "his wrinkles."
And as one laughed: "Absolutely crackers. I need his energy!"
Imogen, who gave her first name only, told Newsweek Lennox is her and her partner's first dog together, and from the moment they got him at 8 weeks old, he "already had a bouncy personality."
But, she added, "from his brothers and sisters, he was the calmest, believe it or not!"
Boxers described as active, bright and fun-loving, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC).
They are also known to be excellent with young children, making them a popular choice as a family pet. In 2023, they were awarded 18th place in the AKC's list of the most popular dog breeds.
"Now he is getting older we can see all of his little characteristics coming out with his little habits he does. He is such a lovable dog," Imogen told Newsweek.
