Girl Cat Kicks Back With Cosy Heating Pad, But Baby Brother Has Other Plans
A ginger cat named Orion has left the internet in stitches after his owner captured him on camera refusing to let his sister nap on the heating pad.
The video, shared on TikTok on Thursday, under the username @littlebabyorion, shows Orion's sister, the tabby cat, fighting back as her brother smacks her on the head with his paws, refusing to give up on the heating device.
"Just a girl using the heating pad when a boy comes and ruins your day," says a caption with the hilarious clip.
All cats love warm things, like the heating pad in the video, and they have every reason to. As descendants of wild cats from the desert, these creatures are naturally wired to seek out the warmth.
But that's not the only reason why they love it so much. Catster explains that when they are kittens they can't regulate their body heat for the first few weeks, so they tend to cuddle up together to share their body heat and survive.
"So, your cat cuddling you is more than just supplying them with warmth. It means they care about you and see it as a comforting experience."
But while they do enjoy a degree of warmth, too much of it can be dangerous, even lethal. In fact, it can cause your cat to experience heatstroke.
"The optimum ambient temperature for most cats is 77–86 degrees Fahrenheit. However, most healthy adult cats can tolerate temperatures below this range within reasonable limits," says Catster.
"In addition, most healthy adult cats can easily adjust to living in a home that stays as cool as 59–68 degrees Fahrenheit. On the warm side, cats can tolerate temperatures up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. However, cats tolerate slightly colder temperatures better than slightly warmer ones."
The video went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 1 million views and 184,800 likes on the platform.
One user, Say Hi To My Little Friends, commented: "And now I want to sit back and relax and enjoy my evening when all of a sudden..."
