Hysterics As Dog Refuses To Let Gate Get In Her Way: 'Fully Committed'

Dog gates are supposed to keep our four-legged friends out of certain places, but one pit bull has left the internet in hysterics after refusing to let the pesky obstacle get in her way.

A hilarious clip shared on TikTok by dog owner Stephanie Nichole Padgett (@stephanienicholep) shows the moment her pet, named Ellie, leaped over the gate with absolute ease. It barely even seemed to challenge her, as she soared over the top of it and crashed into the sofa on the other side with a loud thud.

Internet users can't get enough of Ellie's determination to make it over the gate, and in just a matter of days, the clip has gone viral. At the time of writing, it's already amassed over 1.1 million views and more than 217,200 likes on TikTok.

Needless to say, Ellie's impressive leap left plenty of social media users in awe, while others couldn't help but laugh at how she landed headfirst into the sofa. Once she stuck the landing, Ellie was seen wagging her tail and turned to her owner for some fuss to show how well she'd done. But just to be sure, Padgett could be heard asking Ellie "are you OK?" following her unexpected stunt.

While dog gates are intended to keep your pup enclosed in one space, they're not foolproof. There are several reasons a dog might to try and escape somewhere, whether it's from a certain room, or their backyard. The American Humane Society explains that this could stem from social isolation or frustration, sexual roaming, phobias, or separation anxiety.

There are ways to overcome this problem, though, as the Humane Society recommends giving the dog daily walks, teaching them commands and obedience, or providing them with plenty of mental stimulation with toys. If their desire to escape stems from fear, owners should figure out what is triggering them and desensitize the issue in order to modify their response.

For active dogs who can leap very high (just like Ellie), owners can even add an extension to their gates or fences. Given how easily Ellie made it over the gate, her owners may want to consider that for the future.

Since going viral for her antics, Ellie has captured plenty of attention, and although that's not what the gate is for, the internet can't get enough of her athletic jump over the top.

The gate didn't even stand a chance, and in just a few days, the viral clip has gained more than 990 comments on TikTok.

One comment reads: "just levitated over the gate."

Another TikTok user wrote: "she fully committed to that jump."

"The gate was more of a suggestion anyway," joked another commenter.

While one TikToker added: "Tail never stopped wagging."
