Dachshund's Way of Taking On Fly Has Internet in Stitches: 'Sky Raisin'
A dog's way of batting away a fly has left viewers online in hysterics.
Stevie, a cream-shaded dachshund, was captured trying to "fight" the small imsect in footage later shared to TikTok by his owner under @longdogstevie. The post, uploaded to Instagram on August 18, has been viewed more than 1.5 million times and has led to several comments from dog owners who can relate.
Viewers could see the long-haired sausage dog perched on a windowsill at home, while a fly, referred to as a "sky raisin," by his owner, flew around him. In what appeared to be equal parts due to his irritation and desire to play, the dog began trying to catch and reach the fly with his paw and snout.
An overlaid text on the video read: "Stevie vs sky raisin."
Dachshunds, with their long bodies and energetic spirits, are a breed renowned for their love of hunting and playing. Originally bred in Germany to pursue badgers and other burrowing animals, these tenacious dogs possess an instinct for tracking, chasing, and ultimately, winning.
Their keen sense of smell and fearless nature make them exceptional hunters, capable of squeezing into tight spaces in pursuit of their quarry. Off the hunting grounds, dachshunds exhibit an equally enthusiastic love for play. They thrive on activities that challenge their agility and intelligence, such as fetch, tug-of-war, and interactive puzzle games. Their playful demeanor and boundless energy have made them popular pets.
Viewers online have resonated with the hilarious feud between the dog and fly, with several voicing how similarly their pets behave in the comments section.
