Hearts Melt Over Blind Cat's Gentle Way of 'Rushing' to Greet Owner

The heartwarming way a blind feline climbs down from the highest perch of the cat tree has captured the internet's attention.

TikTok user @veronikawidger returned home to find her cat sitting atop a cat tree. Plenty of owners know how much their cats love using towers. It provides personal space, exercise and a scratching post. However, this feline wanted to give up that comfort and luxury to greet her owner.

But since the blind cat was at the top, she carefully took her time to climb down the different levels of the cat tree. In the cat's mind, she was "rushing" to greet her owner.

The September 2 TikTok video showing the feline's journey melted hearts online. It wasn't necessarily the fastest way to get to her owner, but she managed step by step.

The cat went backward down the top level. Her back legs reached for the next step, and she lowered the rest of her body when she was stable, carefully navigating each box without stepping off.

Many viewers hoped the owner would help her get off the cat tree. But, being the independent cat she is, she did it herself.

"She is sooo babied! She goes with me on adventures and lays on my shoulder. She will stay by my side outside of the house. If she has the place/setting memorized she doesn't want to be held or helped," the owner wrote.

Newsweek reached out to @veronikawidger via TikTok for comment.

What Do the Comments Say?

With over 2.8 million views, people couldn't get over the cat's sweet and gentle behavior. As of Thursday, the TikTok video had amassed over 502,200 likes and 2,150 comments.

"If rush hour was this cute I may just contain my rage," said one viewer, while a second wrote: "Awww, she knows her cat tree soo well."

Someone else pointed out how interesting it was that the cat decided to go to the top level as it might be challenging to navigate the cat tower. But this cat had her reasons. The owner explained that her cat does this because she has "two goldens that are excited on ground level"—she's getting a break from the madness.
