Cat Brings Special 'Gift' for Owner, Chaos Ensues

A cat named Roxy brought her owner a special gift from outside, and visibly she had no idea her owner was going to react the way she did.

In a video shared on TikTok in July, under the username @floofyroxy, the gray cat can be seen showing up at her owner's front door in South Lake Tahoe, holding a live squirrel in her mouth, offering it to her owner as a present.

The owner was horrified and immediately ordered the cat to let it go.

"Roxy, what's that you got in your mouth? No, do not bring that in here, no, let it go. Let that little guy go," the poster can be heard saying.

Roxy hesitated for a while but eventually, she loosened her grip and the squirrel immediately took off running.

"You've got to let these animals live, and no, you cannot bring them back to me," she continued.

A caption shared along with the clip says: "The way she brought it to my door..."

You can offer your cat anything, the best toys or the most sophisticated meat pates and kibble, but nothing in their eyes will ever match the feeling of hunting and catching prey.

Website Catster explains that cats hunt because it's an instinctive behavior for them.

"While you might want to ensure that your cat can't catch real prey, as owners of tiny tigers, we need to be realistic about the fact that hunting-type behavior is an instinctive behavior for cats," the website says. "It's something that keeps them feeling content and satisfied, so we shouldn't expect them to not chase and hunt. However, we can ensure that they do not harm local fauna while they do so."

If you want to prevent your cat from hunting, the best way is to keep them inside, and if you still want them to spend time outside, you can offer them a catio, which is a safe, enclosed area where they can spend time outside without hurting the fauna.
