Bride and Groom Include Goldendoodle in Wedding, Things Don't Go To Plan

A couple from New York City decided to include their dog in their wedding ceremony, but it didn't exactly go as planned.

In a video shared on Instagram, under the username @woofitsgeorge, the couple can be seen exchanging their vows at the wedding ceremony, while their goldendoodle, who is standing to their right, refuses to look at them or anyone else present.

In fact, the pup is filmed hilariously giving his back to all the guests, appearing to watch the rain fall outside their gazebo instead of getting involved in the special moment.

"When you include your dog in the ceremony and speech, but he refuses to look at anyone," layover text displayed on the clip reads.

The caption adds: "Who is surprised by George turning his back on us and the audience during our ceremony? He's like let me know when this is over."

The poster, 33-year-old Irma, told Newsweek that pup George played a special role in their ceremony, walking down the aisle alongside her nephews.

"With just our siblings standing with us at the altar, my husband's sister held George during the vows. In the moment, our focus was entirely on each other, so it wasn't until we received our wedding photos and videos that we realized George had faced away from the audience for the entire ceremony.

"It had rained during the ceremony, and we couldn't help but laugh, thinking he was captivated by the beautiful rainfall instead of watching his humans exchange vows."

While some dogs enjoy being the life of the party, others can be more shy. So before giving your dog a special role for your wedding, British animal charity Blue Cross suggests that you consider whether your dog would be comfortable with it.

If you think your dog will enjoying being physically present at your wedding, you should still take some precautions to make sure the day goes smoothly for both of you.

First, it's important to make sure that your venue is dog-friendly, and that your pup will have a place to go potty because they will probably need it. It's also crucial to find a trusted person to stay with your pup while you're busy elsewhere—someone who your dog likes, and who can take them home should they need to.

Make sure to tell your guests not to feed the dog as some foods are poisonous for dogs, and not everyone will know this. You should also pay extra attention to your flower arrangement as some flowers can be poisonous to dogs.

Last but not least, tell your photographer in advance so that they can plan the shoots to include your furbaby.

Irma's video quickly went viral on social media. Since being posted in July, it has so far received over 3.6 million views and 281,861 likes on the platform.

One user commented: "He didn't want everyone to see him cry."

Another said: "He's having an existential crisis."

A third posted: "Lmk when the attention is back on me."
