Couple Moves In Together, Dog Falls 'In Love' With Owner's Boyfriend

A dog owner recently moved in with her boyfriend of two years, and her dog immediately decided to change owners.

In a post shared on Reddit on Monday under the username @NewHampshireGal, the Labrador mix is pictured lying on top of her new dad, hugging him with her paw, and looking at him with loving eyes.

"My girl Bella totally in love with my boyfriend of two years," says a caption shared along with the heartwarming photograph.

The poster, Jessie, told Newsweek that her 9-year-old pup, Bella, is a rescue from Tennessee, and she usually isn't very open to the idea of new people, but she's clearly decided to make an exception for her dad.

"She isn't fond of people so I was worried about her meeting my boyfriend when we started dating two years ago. I warned him she might bite him because she doesn't like strangers. But no. She ran to him and gave him her belly within seconds! She loved him right away!" she said.

"She goes crazy when he gets home from work and loves cuddling him. While she is affectionate with me, when it comes to him, it is a whole other level. All she wants to do is be with him."

All dogs have a favorite human, and it may or may not be their owner, or main caregiver. So what makes a dog love you more than anybody else?

Newsweek previously asked vets what makes dogs choose one person over another and the answer is pretty simple: attention.

The strength of the bond you form with the pup can vary based on a number of factors, including the amount of time spent together, the care provided, and the overall relationship built over time.

But how do you know if you are in fact your pup's favorite human? Signs include tail wagging when they see you, seeking any excuse to be around you, being affectionate and relaxed around you, rubbing their face on you, and keeping eye contact.

RefinedBean added: "I remember when I first started dating my wife, I was so worried her cats wouldn't like me (I love cats, but they're cats, you NEVER know). And thank god, they both started loving me after a few months. Eventually one was my 'late night vidya cat,' always snoozing by my feet and raising one eyelid when I cursed too loud or laughed at a friend's joke.

"He died two years ago. I miss him something fierce, but I will say, getting some new cats together has also been an amazing experience."
