Laughter As Cat Finds Comfy New Sleep Spot, but It Ends Disastrously
The internet has been left in hysterics by a cat's unusual new sleeping spot, but things didn't turn out well for the feline.
A hilarious video shows Miso curled up tightly inside a clear vase, with her face squashed up against the glass. It certainly wasn't the most conventional place for a nap, but that didn't seem to bother her, as her owner joked on TikTok that she "could literally sleep in the vase for 7 hours straight."
Social media users can't get enough of Miso's quirky sleeping spot, and in just a matter of days, the video has gained more than 230,800 views and over 40,500 likes.
As much as Miso appeared to like her new "bed" it definitely wasn't designed for sleeping, and sadly, it wasn't meant to last. Ultimately, the delicate vase shattered, and footage shows the moment Miso inspecting the broken glass that was once her comfy spot.
Alongside the clip, Miso's owners joked in the caption that they "need a new vase" now. Maybe one that Miso doesn't fit inside is the best way forward.
Many cats, just like Miso, confound their owners with their strange sleeping habits. But as felines need up to 16 hours of sleep per day, they need to get comfortable, and there are many ways of doing that. PetMD explains that most cats seek out warmth when they're snoozing, so the position they lie in will often account for that. For example, being curled up in a tight ball helps keep them cozy and retains body heat. This position can also protect their vital organs as their abdomen is surrounded by less essential body parts.
Other common sleeping positions include lying on their back, which suggests a cat feels safe and confident. There's also the loaf position, which preserves body heat and protects organs, suggesting that they're relaxed but also poised for action, just in case.
Cats also like to drape themselves on furniture and lie in very awkward-looking positions at times too. While it might look painful to us, PetMD suggests it might actually be very comfortable for them as cats are very flexible. The discs in their spinal column are very elastic, so cats can twist and contort their bodies into a whole range of positions.
Sadly for Miso, she'll have to find a new sleeping spot now after breaking the vase on the table. It was probably meant for a candle or floral décor rather than a cat, but she didn't seem to understand.
Her antics have delighted the internet though, and TikTok users have lauded the cat for seeking out such an unusual place for a nap.
Among the comments on TikTok, one user responded: "oh no, his new bed is broken now."
Another person wrote: "Cats are also liquids—confirmed."
One TikToker suggested: "Buy a plastic one and let him sleep in it."
Some commenters were concerned about the footage of Miso walking near the broken shards of glass, but the owner wrote on TikTok that "she was fine."
