Mastiff Attempts To Squeeze Through Cat Flap, Instantly Regrets It

An English mastiff puppy called Bowser recently found himself in a hilarious predicament, leaving the internet in fits of laughter.

On October 5, a video was shared on the TikTok account @bowserthemastiff, which is dedicated to the five-month-old mischievous pup. In the clip, which has since racked up over 142,000 views, the young dog—who is far from small—gets himself stuck in an unexpected place: a cat flap.

Bowser's misadventure shows the moment he attempts to squeeze through the small door intended for a much smaller occupant. The result? A classic case of puppy miscalculation. As Las Vegas-based Bowser struggles to free himself, his owner can be heard laughing from behind the camera. "I think you might be stuck," the owner says, amused, asking Bowser if he needs help.

The video captures the owner heading inside the house to assess the situation from the other side, where she sees Bowser's legs hilariously wedged in the cat door. But after a little persistence, the determined puppy finally manages to wriggle free.

Once liberated from his tight spot, he walks off—without so much as a glance at his owner. Viewers couldn't help but comment on his reaction, with one user pointing out: "Once he gets out, he avoids eye contact lol. He doesn't want to acknowledge what just happened." Another user chimed in with: "He's like, 'I don't wanna talk about it, Mom,'" capturing the embarrassed yet playful attitude Bowser seemed to display.

The internet has embraced Bowser's adorable mishap, with another commenter exclaiming, "THIS WAS THE PUPPY??? OMG, HE'S SO BIG NOW!"

Bowser's massive size for a puppy is no surprise, as English mastiffs are known for their impressive stature. According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), male mastiffs can weigh between 160 and 230 pounds, while females range from 120 to 170 pounds. Mastiffs are known to be patient, lovable companions, and loyal guardians, but their powerful size and natural wariness of strangers make early training and socialization essential. As magnificent pets, owning a giant-breed dog like a mastiff is a serious commitment, requiring gentle but firm training from an early age.

While Bowser is still growing, he already tips the scales at a staggering 175 pounds, but it's clear he's quite the gentle giant. Bowser isn't the only large dog to capture the hearts of the internet. Another mastiff, Miss Mia, has also proven that size doesn't determine personality. Known for her love of Taylor Swift, Mia reminds us that these massive dogs are more than capable of showing a soft, affectionate side.
