Laughter as 'Socially Awkward' Dachshund Forced To Attend Birthday Party

A shy sausage dog's appearance at a canine friend's birthday party has delighted viewers online.

The male dachshund, who is named George, was filmed staying away from a group of other pets at the party by his owner, who shared his sweet reaction to the crowd on Instagram. The video, which was posted to Instagram on September 4 under the name @georgiewildwiener, captured the "socially awkward" dog's response to the lively gathering and has left viewers online in stitches.

The dog was filmed donning a paper party hat and being taken along to the birthday bash of a canine friend. The dachshund, visibly unamused by the busy event, was then captured staying away from the crowd, backing away from interactions with other pets and staying close to his owner.

The other pets in attendance, which included one cat, were shown to be playing warmly together, and were even spotted lining up together for a photograph. George, on the other hand, sat on his own or wandered off from group activities with his tail kept firmly between his legs in a clear show of discontent.

To make up for George's displeasure, his owner rewarded him with some whipped cream on top of a dog treat, which he appeared to thoroughly enjoy.

An overlaid text on the video read: "POV: You bring your socially awkward dog to a birthday party."

The post had been captioned: "DW [don't worry] he was financially compensated at the end."

Since it was shared to Instagram, the post has been liked 207,000-plus times and commented on by more than 280 users. Most commenters have voiced their amusement at George's relatable reaction to being "forced" to use his social batteries, while others have also shared their funny takes on the clip and the interaction between all the animal guests.

One viewer commented: "You're not actually making me socialize with these people, are you?"

Another added: "Mom! I don't even know these people!"

"Someone pick him up he looks very uncomfortable and sad! Poor baby," a third viewer shared.

"I loved that there was one kitty there as well," another added.

"It's cause homeboy next to him had a red rocket at his eye level staring right at him, poor guy," another added.

"That's my spirit animal," another said.

Another added: "Poor guy, I can't help but laughing [laugh emoji]."
