Internet Obsessed With Husky and Corgi Rescue Dog: 'Corgsky'
We all know what huskies and corgis look like, but what about a mix between the two? Well, there is no need to imagine it because a clip introducing an adorable "corgsky" has gone viral on social media.
Dog owner Yanni Laloudakis has delighted internet users by sharing videos of her unusual-looking pup named Luna, who is a cross between a husky and a corgi. The dog's face looks like any other husky, but her short legs and compact body reveals her unexpected breed-makeup.
Some might mistake Luna for a pocket-size husky who still needs to grow, but at 4 years old, she won't get any bigger. Indeed, the face is all husky, but the body really is more corgi, as Laloudakis told Newsweek that people are always "entertained by her stature."
Internet users can't get enough of a TikTok (@lunahuskycorgi) video that was shared in September, showing her "unique" appearance. The clip went viral with over 2.4 million views and more than 387,000 likes at the time of writing.
"I'm not 100 percent sure what she is, but I assume she's 50/50 corgi and husky," Laloudakis, who resides in Alberta, Canada, said.
"She's a bit demanding and sassy, but a great communicator and never fails to make us laugh. She loves people and playing with her other dog friends."
While many think her stout frame is endearing and they love how quirky she looks, Laloudakis said that Luna was given up by her two previous owners. She rescued the pup when she was 2 months old and, fortunately, it turned out to be the third time lucky for Luna.
"I couldn't get any history on Luna, her parents, or where she came from. I was just told she is a corgi-husky by the people that rehoused her to me," Laloudakis said.
Whenever Luna is out for her walks, she usually attracts attention: Laloudakis said that many people will come up to her and ask what kind of dog she is. The owner has even come up with some comical names to answer that question, as she sometimes refers to Luna as a "corgsky," or even a "siborgi." Indeed, she even jokes that Luna is just a "corgi cosplaying as a husky."
Needless to say, there aren't many dogs like Luna, and Laloudakis is yet to see another one who looks similar to her. While she has seen corgis mixed with German shepherds before, they are usually smaller than Luna.
Since the video went viral online, TikTok users are obsessed with Luna's quirky appearance, and the post has amassed more than 1,500 comments.
"People love her because she's different and basically a Disney character," Laloudakis told Newsweek. "I'm so proud of the community behind Luna and their engagement with us.
"Most of the comments have been positive so far. There are some people that assume she's a designer dog and they have some negative things to say; however, that's to be expected from the internet."
Many commenters have hailed Luna for looking so unique, while others offered their own suggestions for what to name her breed.
One comment reads: "husky + corgi = huggy?"
A TikTok user wrote: "It's a smorsky … a small corgi husky."
"It's like a corgi disguised as a husky and I love it," added another commenter.
A third TikTok user posted: "Is that a Cusky? Beautiful."
