Hysterics As Dalmatian 'Tests How Far He Can Get' on Couch He's Banned From

A Dalmatian puppy who is not allowed on his owner's couch went viral on TikTok after trying his luck to see how far he could get on it before getting in trouble.

The hilarious video, shared earlier in October by @yeimilyo, shows the puppy stretching almost the entire length of his body on his mom's white couch, keeping one of his hind legs down, to show her that he's not actually on it. Newsweek reached out to @yeimilyo for comment via TikTok comments. We could not verify the details of the case.

"POV [point of view]: Your puppy isn't allowed on the couch so he tests how far he can get until he gets in trouble," reads a caption in the clip.

Allowing your pup on the couch is a personal choice every owner has to make when getting a dog, and once you make it, you should stick to it to avoid behavioral problems due to training inconsistencies.

There are pros and cons to it, says the Leon Valley Veterinary Hospital's website. It allows your pup to get easy cuddles while watching TV, and makes them feel closer to you when you are out, but on the negative side, it also facilitates the spread of germs, which can be problematic for those with allergies.

Moreover, allowing them on your same level can take your dog on a power trip, making them feel like they are equal, and they may even get mad at you for asking them to get off, or for sitting on "their" couch. They will also show this behavior in front of guests, or at someone else's home, too.

If you tried to teach your dog to stay off the furniture but it didn't work, there is a way to get them to move without breaking their heart.

U.K. animal charity website Dogs Trust says that the best way to get your pup off your furniture is to offer them something they enjoy like a toy or a snack, something more appealing to grab their attention.

Rewarding them once they get off your couch will help make this a positive experience for them, which they are more likely to keep repeating.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 1.4 million views and more than 336,000 likes on the platform.

One user, Chinaakeilani, commented: "He said I'm not on the couch. I'm actually still on the floor …" And the poster replied: "[For real] … As long as 1 paw is on the floor.. there's no issues."

Enisa added: "The side eye after he realized you were noticing."
