Teacher Comes Up With Hilarious 'Reward' for ClassâAnd It Involves Her Pets
Not every pet owner has the luxury of working from home surrounded by their fur babies all day, but technology lets those in-person workers check in on their pets—which one teacher uses to her advantage.
Known on TikTok @madisondemayo, this teacher discovered a pro-tip that works as a double whammy because it involves both her students and her cats waiting at home: the automatic feeder. She offered her class a "reward" that involved feeding her pets a treat, and they were immediately on board.
Automatic feeders give owners peace of mind. They can schedule food to come out throughout the day, which is helpful when away and allows pets to stick to a routine. An article from Rover explained these automatic feeders can also help with portion control and overeating. It might also allow owners to sleep in instead of getting woken up by a pet begging for breakfast at 4 a.m.
This teacher's automatic feeder from PetLibro features a camera she can access remotely to check in on her cats. With a press of a button on the app, more food is dispensed into their bowls.
In her September 17 TikTok video, she showed how her class earned the reward and got to interact with her cats at home.
She pulled up the stream and used AirPlay to project it on the classroom whiteboard. It became an instant hit as students were laughing and hollering with joy as the cats were broadcast in the classroom.
The caption reads: "They went absolutely WILD for this."
It wasn't just the students who loved this reward. One of the teacher's comments on the video explained that her cats, Orzo and Ziti, loved it too, which is evident as they immediately scooped up the treats the class left for them in their bowls.
Newsweek reached out to @madisondemayo via TikTok for comment.
The precious TikTok video amassed over 1.8 million views, 304,500 likes and 733 comments as of Thursday.
"That's their class pet now," commented a viewer, while another said, "Those cats are going to be hoping the kids are good every day."
To say some adults are jealous would be an understatement: "I'm a senior in college and I fear this would change my life."
