'Heroic' Cats Save Owner From Cobra Attack
A group of cats have gained significant attention online after protecting their owner from a cobra that had made its way into their home.
The show of feline bravery was recapped in a now-viral Reddit post highlighting the harrowing, yet extraordinary, encounter between the pet owner, their cats, and the cobra. Since being uploaded by the owner under the username u/new-entertainer-237 on October 4, the post has garnered more than 23,000 upvotes, and has captured the admiration of viewers online.
The post detailed how the incident, that could have ended in tragedy, showcased the protective instincts of the owner's cats.
According to the pet owner, a spitting cobra had slithered into their home and hidden beneath a low coffee table in the living room, a spot too obscure to be noticed by casual observation. The owner, unaware of the dangerous reptile lurking beneath the table, had been in the kitchen preparing a cup of coffee when they heard an unusual commotion.
"This is the second time this has happened to me," the owner said. "I went to the kitchen to get some coffee.
"Then I noticed all my cats gathered around the table, I looked down and was surprised to see a spitting cobra."
Accompanying the viral post is an image of one of the cats in a confrontational stance, bravely fending off the deadly snake. The cats' collective vigilance around the table alerted the owner to the grave danger, affording them the precious time needed to take safe and appropriate action.
The owner's swift response, coupled with the quick arrival of firefighters, ensured everyone's safety.
"All my cats are safe if anyone is wondering," the owner added. "They are heroic but not stupid. The snake was safely removed by firefighters 30 minutes later."
The story has drawn a flood of comments from viewers on Reddit, commending the heroism of the cats.
"Fantastic bodyguards," one viewer said.
Another user added: "Thank God for intelligent and vigilant cattos!"
"They know it's dangerous too! They just want to make sure it doesn't try anything. I'm glad everyone is safe," a third viewer shared.
