Laughter at Dog Who Still Can't Remember Where He Lives After Three Years
The internet has been in stitches at a rescue dog who still can't remember where he lives, despite having been there for over three years.
In the video, rescue dog Butters wanders the hallway of the apartment he lives in, confused about which of the identical doors leads to his home.
His owner Kira, who runs the TikTok account @addsomebutters, joked in the caption: "Year 3 of living here, he still does not know which apartment he lives in."
Butters, originally named Butterfingers, is a Great Pyrenees mix who had a rough start to life. In 2020, he was found living in a dumpster in Texas. Taken in by Animal Control, he was listed for euthanasia as a result of his poor health.
Fortunately, a group specializing in Pyrenees breeds stepped in and saved him from the grim fate.
His health issues and severe anxiety meant he was kept off the adoption list.
In 2021, Kira—who was battling severe anxiety and depression herself—reached out to the group in search of a dog to focus her energy on. When they mentioned Butterfingers, she knew he was the right dog for her, and before long she and her boyfriend drove to collect him, renaming him Butters after the South Park character.
The transition to his new home hasn't been easy and Butters still suffers from some anxiety, but, thanks to his owner's dedication, he has settled in well and now enjoys a happy life with Kira and her cats.
Butters has also became a hit on TikTok, gaining 1.3 million views of the video of him trying to work out where he lives. Thousands of people reacted in the comments section.
One user said: "In his defense, that seems pretty hard to remember lol," while a second quipped: "Butters is going places. Not home, but places."
"Please tell me your neighbors love him because seeing him walk down the hall like that would make me soooo happy!" said another TikToker, to which Kira replied that he has his own "fan club" in the building.
Others related to Butters' predicament, with one saying: "Me going anywhere without Google Maps even though I've lived in the same town for 20 years."
Newsweek reached out to @addsomebutters via TikTok for comment.
