Dog's Unimpressed Face When Owner Takes Him To Work: 'Ready To Leave'

A woman who wanted to give her dog a change of scenery decided to take him into the office with her—but needless to say, the nine to five life isn't for him.

When Kelsey Sampson, 29, goes into the office, she usually sends her 3-year-old dog, named Tommy, to day care so he's not alone for long stretches of the day. But every now and then, she likes to mix things up and takes the Australian shepherd poodle mix into the office with her instead.

She knew that the office would be quiet on the day she took him with her, telling Newsweek she thought it would be the perfect opportunity for Tommy to have "an office adventure." But as soon as he'd gone round and said hello to all his colleagues, the novelty wore off when the "reality of work" sadly set in.

"When we walked into the office, Tommy was very excited to see new friends. But after about an hour or so, his excitement wore off, and then he realized it was time to settle down and chill while I worked at my cubicle," Sampson, from Seattle, said.

"I thought his reaction was hilarious. Tommy has such an expressive face, so it is easy to tell when he is bored, sad, or in this case, ready to leave work."

After seeing how unimpressed Tommy was about having to work, Sampson captured a hilarious clip and shared it on TikTok (@kelsandtommy). Tommy sat and stared at his owner with a very unhappy expression, making it clear to her that he "was ready to go" home.

The clip has left internet users in hysterics since it was posted, generating more than 1.3 million views and over 173,500 likes.

"The video was taken during that settling down time when he was no longer having fun, and no one was paying any attention to him anymore," Sampson continued.

"The reaction has been unbelievable. Everyone found it very relatable, and they loved the expression on Tommy's face. People were commenting that they felt the same way, that it's a sign we should all work from home, and that Tommy was obviously not impressed."

Sampson has tried to take Tommy back into the office again since filming this video, and every time he has the same reaction. He starts off excited about seeing friends in the office, but then he soon realizes how much he detests the idea of being a working dog.

Although Tommy doesn't love going into the office, Sampson's coworkers certainly enjoy seeing him regardless.

"My colleagues get very excited when I bring Tommy into the office, and they shower him with pets and attention until it's time to get back to work. They think he is the best kind of distraction," Sampson told Newsweek.

"Tommy has been the best thing to happen to me and my fiance. He is such a smart, funny, and expressive dog. I create videos like this to share those moments and hopefully brighten someone else's day."

Since Tommy's unimpressed reaction went viral, the clip has gained more than 2,200 comments on TikTok in just a few days. One commenter wrote: "He's like, 'This could've been an email.'"

Another TikTok user wrote: "I too am ready to leave work after 20 minutes. I get it."

"He's just nervous...it's his first day," joked another commenter.

While another TikToker responded: "He looks like he showed up to 50 missed emails."
