Owner Spends $400 on Vet Visit—Can't Believe What Dog Does When They Arrive

A dog owner who spent hundreds of dollars on an emergency vet visit for her sick animal has gone viral after sharing what the dog did when they arrived.

Martha—who lives in Sweden with her two borzoi dogs, Silas and Tesla—regularly shares what life with the pups is like on her TikTok account @madman.hounds.

On June 3, Martha posted a video on the platform of Silas, who is 15 months old, at the vet, writing in the caption that he had gotten "sick during a national holiday so only the big, expensive hospital is open."

But in the video, Silas doesn't seem unwell at all—leaping from the ground, chasing his tail and taking himself for a walk with his leash in his mouth.

Martha wrote in the video's text overlay, "€400 emergency vet visit only for him to act like this." She added in the caption, "He's fine btw, he ate trash."

Borzois, also known as Russian Hunting Sighthounds, are uncommon in the United States, ranking 101st of 200 on the American Kennel Club's 2023 list of most popular dog breeds.

Their rarity, combined with their unusual looks, has helped make Martha's TikTok account popular, and the recent video has received more than 123,000 views.

Newsweek has contacted @madman.hounds for comment on TikTok and Instagram.

TikTok users loved Silas' antics, with one writing, "That's the most elegant boing I've ever seen."

Another joked he was "trying to fence jump the door."

Another commenter said the energetic pup seemed "like such a fun dog to live with."

Other users had a burning question: "Did he ever catch his tail?"

"He did!" Martha confirmed.

Borzois are tall, slender dogs, with males reaching a height from 28 inches tall. They generally weigh between 75 and 105 pounds, and they were originally bred to be swift, tough hunting dogs.

Known for their unusual, elegant looks, borzois are described by the American Kennel Club as calm, agreeable and stubborn in a way that is almost catlike.

Though the breed is considered "too dignified" to enjoy roughhousing like other breeds, Martha wrote in a comment that Silas is "the most dog-like borzoi I've met personality wise."

Other videos on Martha's page also show off Silas' personality, and the curious pup can be seen stealing pans from a (cold) stove, running through a forest with a watering can in his mouth and taking off with items from a table.
