Hysterics at What Puppy Will Do To Get a Treat: 'So Dramatic'
A golden retriever puppy from Nashville left internet users in stitches after his owner shared the dramatic way in which he begs for a treat in a video that quickly went viral on TikTok.
The hilarious clip shared on Sunday under the username @kimbosawyer, shows the puppy, Tucker, impatiently staring at the chew treat his mom is holding, lying down to show her that he is a good boy and really deserves it.
As soon as his owner says "Tucker, place!" the pup immediately jumps onto his little dog bed, in one smooth move, doing anything his mom asks of him to get his paws on that tasty treat. "He's so dramatic," a caption shared with the clip reads.
Nothing motivates dogs more than food, and they would do anything for a tasty snack at any time of the day. However, overfeeding your dog can cause obesity, which in turns can lead to diseases such as diabetes.
But how do you know exactly how much your dog is supposed to eat in a day?
A good rule of thumb, says the American Kennel Club, is to feed your pup twice a day. However, the quantity of food they need varies based on their breed, age and activity levels.
For example, puppies, who are growing rapidly, need a lot of energy and so they should eat more, compared to adult dogs. Their feedings should be done more frequently, even if that means in smaller quantities.
On the other hand, senior dogs are much less active, so, to avoid obesity, they shouldn't exceed their daily calories.
However, this doesn't mean that you shouldn't give your dog any treats. The U.K. animal charity Dogs Trust says that treats are a great tool for training and dogs really enjoy them, so it is fine to give them in moderation.
Their suggestions is that only up to 10 percent of your dog's diet should be made up of treats. There are different types of treats to choose from, some healthier than others. For example, vegetables are a great choice, and also low in calories.
It is also important to avoid feeding your dog table scraps as treats. Many of our foods can be toxic to them, and some can easily cause obesity. For example, a slice of toast for a canine is the same as a portion of fries for us.
The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 1 million views and almost 200,000 likes on the platform.
One user, Bev. Ring, commented: "I think I speak for all of, we need to see the jump."
Andrea_tamasi posted: "He said 'oh I know that one!!!!"
Riley Burns added: "My golden puppy is just over a year now and she still absolutely throws herself into 'place' she goes there before meals so she gets big excited when you tell her place."
