One dog's upgrade to a better life after being found as a starving stray was sealed with her first nibble of cheese and her reaction has melted hearts.

Gracie's entire body looked withered down with her ribs sticking out when she was originally found as a stray dog. Starving, with no home or family, she would walk hesitantly and shake the entire time. But she luckily moved into a foster home where she got the attention she needed to get healthier and stronger. Gracie received love, treats and a whole lot of firsts, including a delicious dairy delight.

In a September 22 Instagram video posted to the account @thriftedkittens.rescue, Gracie's foster mom gave her a tiny piece of cheese. Her eyes widened with curiosity while she gently took the cheese from her foster mom's hand. Gracie scarfed it down and was instantly hooked. Her lip quivered in disbelief at how delicious the cheese tasted. Her tongue danced around.

Part of the caption reads: "From a severely emaciated stray who couldn't even stand up, to a taste tester of the finest, most gourmet cheeses."

She couldn't believe a piece of food could taste as good as the cheese. And it was at that moment she knew her starving days on the streets were long gone.

Then, she made eye contact with her foster mom as if to ask, "That's it?" She wanted more cheese instantly.

Owners often give their dogs a piece of cheese as a treat or training tool as it contains protein, calcium, vitamin A, essential fatty acids and B-complex vitamins, the American Kennel Club states. However, it is best to feed dogs cheese in moderation.

Although it's a delicious snack, cheese is high in fat, and too much could cause weight gain, obesity or more seriously, pancreatitis. It's also important to monitor what kinds of cheese you're feeding your dog as some products could contain toxic ingredients for dogs such as garlic, onions, and chives.

With over 2.7 million views on Instagram, people quickly fell head-over-heels for this sweet doggo's reaction to her first piece of cheese. As of Tuesday, the video had amassed over 288,000 likes and 1,025 comments.

"Her little brain is getting a major software update over that cheese," said one user.

Another added: "She's not sure & needs another piece to tell."

A third person chimed in: "Awwww she gets the cheese tax forever." And that she will, considering she was adopted just a few days after the video was originally posted. Gracie will be politely asking for the cheese tax in her forever home.
