Reason Puppy Carries Food Bowl to Couch Beside Owner Melts Hearts
A Yorkshire terrier from Atlanta, Georgia, went viral after her owner caught her on camera hiding her food bowl from her siblings, and the internet users can't stop laughing.
The hilarious TikTok clip, shared in August under the username @cocoandlouie_kennel, shows the Yorkie, Coco, grabbing her yellow food bowl with kibble in it, carrying it from the kitchen, where five other pups are eating all together, all the way to the couch, so she can eat by herself.
"When your puppy like to eat alone and not with the others," reads layover text in the clip. A caption adds: "When your puppy likes to eat peacefully."
While Coco didn't share a single bite of her food with her siblings, most dogs usually don't mind treating a friend to a taste of their meal. In fact, canines are among the few species, along with humans and others, that are known to be charitable.
A study by the Messerli Research Institute at Vetmeduni Vienna in Austria tested dogs to see whether they would share their food reward with their fellow canines after a task, and it turns out that they do, especially if they are already friends.
They tend to be less charitable with stranger dogs, although they will still share with them occasionally.
However, while dogs are willing to share food with other canines, they may not be as generous when it comes to humans. Another study by the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna found that dogs won't share food with us, even after we have shared a snack first.
However, the researchers recognized the limitations of the study, which could have been influenced by a lack of understanding of the task on the dogs' part. This means that more data is needed to be able to tell for sure that your most loyal companion wouldn't share their treats with you.
The video quickly went viral on social media and has so far received over 1.2 million views and more than 255,500 likes on the platform. And some users could relate.
One user, Tee2005 commented: "Me when eating lunch at work. Straight to the car."
Nene wrote: "Me sneaking off to eat so my kid won't see."
Kendara Bacon, added: "She deserves to eat up there, she didn't drop not one piece of food [on the way] up lol [laugh out loud]."
