Cat's Unexpected Reaction Every Time She Sees Owner Melts Hearts

A cat owner from Seattle, Washington, shared the unusual way her cat greets her every time she sees her, and feline lovers all over the internet can't believe how lucky she is.

In a viral video shared on TikTok earlier in October under the username @soccercatmom, the poster, Ashley Saldana, says: "I just walked through the door. I want you to see this cat of mine. And I'm wondering if anybody else has a cat like this," as her tabby cat jumps on top of her in one smooth move.

"Just got home; first thing she does is jumps to me wherever she is. Does anybody have a cat who does that? She's, like, truly my little baby. It's everyday," Saldana continues, adding that she only does this with her.

Saldana told Newsweek that her 5-month-old kitten, Pudding, has been doing this since she was about 12 weeks old, and she does so every single time the poster gets home, or anytime she gets tired and is looking for some snuggles.

Pudding stands on the kitchen counter, preparing to jump. The poster said that her pet greets her this way every time she sees her, and cat owners all over the internet can't believe her luck. "She just started to do it one day. Once she realized she can do it, it became more and more frequent," Saldana said. "Now it's nearly anytime I walk by her. [She does this] many different times a day, to the point where I always have to have my guard up.

"[Once] she did it as my back was faced away from her, as I was opening up a bag of flour. She startled me and I dropped the bag of flour all over my stove and floor."

While it is true that cats rely on their owners for food and comfort, their relationship with us is much more than just convenience. In fact, according to Georgia-based veterinarian Dr. Jess Kirk, cats are just as capable of loving us as dogs.

Signs that a cat love you usually include purring, head-butting, kneading, and following you around the house. Other felines like to show their affection by rubbing against you, grooming you, or bringing you gifts such as toys or prey.

However, every cat is different and has their own personality, and some may be shyer than others, and show their love in more subtle ways.

Research by the University of Lincoln in the United Kingdom has found that some cats are more dependent on their owners and attached to them than others, and their relationship may be affected by the owner's emotional investment in the feline. So the more you love your cat, the more it loves you.

Saldana added that Pudding and her littermates were abandoned in their cousin's driveway when they were very tiny kittens, and when she went to pick one up, Pudding snuggled right up to her neck, making it a very easy decision for her.

The video quickly went viral on social media, receiving over 630,000 views and more than 64,500 likes on the platform, and other cat owners wish their felines did the same.

One user, Catherine Patino, commented: "No and I couldn't be more jealous."

Gigi posted: "Awwww your so lucky she adores you."

Cat man and friends added: "I wish my two male cats would be so lovey!"
