Pet Owner Shares Impossible Yet Relatable Struggle Over 'Non Lap Cat'
A cat owner's struggle over whether they should snuggle up with their "non lap cat" when given the opportunity or move has amused viewers online.
The humorous dilemma, captured and shared to Instagram by the pet's owner under @kiro_mar_todi, concerns an aloof Siberian cat named May and how she randomly decided to snuggle up to one of her owners—something she never usually does.
The video, posted on September 29, has amassed more than 26,000 likes and is striking a chord with pet owners who can relate to the breed's swift changes in mood and solo temperament.

Viewers saw the Siberian cat, who usually keeps its distance from everyone, comfortably sprawled on her owner's lap. Her other owner, Rita, filmed the amusing moment.
An overlaid text on the video read: "When you need to pee but your 'non lap cat' comes on you and you won't move for the next hour."
"This moment was worth it," the cat's owner added in the caption.

"One day, we saw a picture of May as a baby kitten on Instagram and we saw something special in her," Rita, who would prefer to keep her full identity private, told Newsweek. "She joined our family a year and a half ago, and she brought a very lively joyful energy.
"Now, at almost two years of age, she still has the character of a kitten, the playfulness, the silliness."
Known for their luxurious coats and robust stature, Siberian cats possess an independent disposition that often leads owners to believe their affection must be earned over time. Still, when earned, they can be warm and enjoy playing games with those around them.

These cats, native to Russia, have long been admired for their plush fur and skilled adaptability to cold climates. Despite their somewhat rugged appearance and tendency to keep to themselves, they are smart and playful and can even show dog-like loyalty to selected caregivers.
The feline's owner made clear that the breed's solo temperament makes every moment of voluntary snugness a cherished experience. The viral video has sparked a flurry of comments among viewers online who agree and can relate to the creator.
"Haha it's always at the most inconvenient moment like when you're about to go out too," one viewer said.
Another person commented: "I am dealing with the same at this very moment."
"You are legally not allowed to move," a third viewer joked.
"We all know it but we love it," another said.
Another added: "Ha ha ha, been there and you're 100 percent correct."
"The moment captured in the video was such a special moment as it happens so rarely with May being still very young and more focused on playing rather than cuddling, as opposed to the other two adult cats," Rita said. "My partner did not want to move, though she really needed to go to the bathroom, but what can you do… A special moment is a special moment."
