Puppy Is Not Allowed on Couch, But She Has a Plan: 'Innocent'

Users on TikTok have been left in hysterics by a pit bull puppy who will do anything to sleep on the couch, even if it means finding a sneaky hiding spot.

Tiffany, the pup's owner, likes to keep her house spotless, which means keeping her two pit bulls off the pristine couch. While her older dog appears to have gotten the message, her new puppy is clearly still trying to figure it out as she tests the boundaries of what she can get away with.

Tiffany shared a hilarious clip on TikTok (@dancingneighbor) earlier this month, showing the moment she discovered how far the pup will go in order to get comfortable. After looking around the house for her dog, Tiffany was amazed to find it curled up in the corner of the couch, secretly hidden behind the cushions.

Even once she'd been caught out, the puppy didn't even try to move out of her comfy spot, and instead just tried to get back to sleep. The video has delighted users, who can't get enough of the dog's cheeky behavior, leading to more than 1.4 million views and 226,000 likes on TikTok.

Alongside the amusing clip, Tiffany wrote on TikTok: "Here we go again."

Hopefully, one day the puppy will find a new spot where she's actually supposed to sleep, but she hasn't quite mastered that yet.

Training a dog not to jump on the couch can prove challenging at times, but the American Kennel Club (AKC) highlights that owners must remain patient, consistent, and clear with their demands. Everyone in the household must be on the same page, and they should have another spot where they can rest instead.

According to the AKC, the best way of teaching them to stay off the couch is through positive reinforcement, and the rule should be established from puppyhood. Keeping their toys on the floor can help keep them off the furniture, and even spending time on the floor alongside them makes them feel like they aren't missing out.

If they have their own dog bed, it should be placed in a high-traffic area so they still feel involved. Alternatively, if the dog has a place they prefer going to, the AKC suggests placing the bed there instead. During training, the dog should be taught a "go to bed" cue, and every time they step onto it, they can earn a treat. Indeed, when they lie down on the bed, reward them again and give them plenty of praise.

Over time, the reinforcement of this behavior will help make it a habit and they'll look forward to snoozing in their one bed eventually.
