What Golden Retriever Does Every Time She Sees Owner's Boyfriend Delights
A dog owner from Nashville, Tennessee, revealed in a viral TikTok video what her golden retriever does every time she sees her boyfriend, and internet users cannot cope with how sweet it is.
The heartwarming clip, shared on Friday by @cassyogrady, shows the pup holding a stuffed toy in her mouth as she walks into the man's home, screaming out of happiness after he lets her on the bed for cuddles. "She sees MY boyfriend," reads layover text in the video. And a caption shared with the post adds: "He's OUR boyfriend." Newsweek reached out to @cassyogrady for comment. We could not verify the details of the case.
Most dogs have a favorite human, and, unfortunately for the poster, her pup's number-one person seems to be her boyfriend. In fact, a dog's favorite does not have to be their owner, and it often isn't. But what makes canines pick a human over another?
ElleVet Sciences says in an article medically reviewed by Dr. David Tittle that, as social animals, dogs love interacting with us and usually tend to be happiest and healthiest when in the company of a human.
You can tell if you are your pup's favorite by the way they behave around you. Signs that may indicate you are include keeping eye contact with a soft, loving gaze; physical contact, including licking, leaning, and sleeping in your bed; bringing you gifts; and just being generally excited to see you.
If they behave this way with multiple people, then it is probably because they have multiple favorites. Georgia-based veterinarian Jess Kirk says in a Vet Explains Pets article that dogs can have multiple favorites, each for a different reason, and they are able to form a unique and special bond with every one of them.
If you think you are not your pup's number one, you can easily become so. A 2023 Newsweek article said that you can win your dog's heart by spending more quality time together, playing with them, taking long walks, and a few tasty treats.
The video quickly went viral on social media and it has so far received over 1.2 million views and more than 160,000 likes on the platform.
One user, BearockHUSSIENobamnah, commented: "No my dog was OBSSED with my ex but we just broke up and idk [I don't know] how to tell him."
Zoeymarie posted: "Mine will get mad at me if I touch him while in her presence."
Taylor Walker added: "That's her boyfriend."
