Doggy Day Care Reveals Which One Breed Is the Clingiest: 'Babies'

A day care facility in Maine has delighted the internet by revealing which dog breed is the clingiest, and needless to say, anyone who owns a German shorthaired pointer can relate.

On any given day, staff at Zucco's Dog House in Hampden, Maine, care for around 50-70 dogs, including labradors, dalmatians, corgis, and of course, German shorthaired pointers (GSPs). Most of the dogs love roaming around by themselves, but there's no doubt which breed likes to be around the staff at all times.

While any dog loves fuss and attention, Darlene Webb from the day care told Newsweek that no other breed even comes close to how clingy GSPs are. They look after 10 GSPs at Zucco's Dog House, and Webb says they're "very human oriented"—which is putting it mildly.

A hilarious clip was posted on the daycare's TikTok account (@zuccosdoghouse0) showing exactly which breed "strives for the human touch" the most. As most of the pups lay on the floor or the dog beds, three of the GSPs, MoJo, Bruno, and Daisy, made themselves comfortable sitting on the staff instead.

Social media users can't get enough of their adorable antics, leading to more than 17.9 million views and 2.3 million likes on the TikTok video so far.

"The GSPs have always been very clingy, and they seem to really love human attention, especially when they're tired," Webb said.

"Most dogs love the attention, but not like the GSPs. If you are sitting, they will be on your lap."

Staff at the day care certainly don't mind how clingy the GSPs are, and they're more than happy to offer up extra cuddles and fuss.

Throughout the day, they spend a lot of time playing games with the dogs, giving them exercise, and doing enrichment activities to keep them stimulated. But towards the end of the day, when everyone is sufficiently tired out, Webb says there's nothing better than sitting down and winding down together.

"At the end of the day, we all like to sit down and snuggle together—that goes for dogs and humans alike," she continued. "GSPs in general are very excitable and love to run around and play, but they are also very cuddly and cling to humans."

Every time that happens, personal space goes out the window as the GSPs see it as the perfect opportunity to climb onto a staff member's lap and enjoy the human contact.

How Did TikTok React?

Since the clip of the GSPs being clingy was shared on TikTok last week, social media users have lauded their cheeky behavior, and many owners attested that they are always exactly like that.

Webb has been amazed by the overwhelming reaction to the video, and she's loved reading through some of the hilarious responses they've received.

"Since posting the video online, it's gotten a lot of attention, and there's been so many comments from GSP parents stating the same thing," she told Newsweek.

In just a matter of days, the viral clip has amassed over 7,600 comments on TikTok already.

One comment reads: "As a pointer & Weimaraner owner.... accurate."

Another person wrote: "Pointer mom here...he would literally crawl in my skin if it was possible. Wouldn't trade it for the world."

"Why is it that hunting breeds are either active hunting dogs or the biggest babies?" added one TikToker.

While another commenter adds: "I can't get over that golden just chilling in the chair."
