Golden Retrievers Try Sharing Birthday Cake, Labrador Claims it All

A Labrador retriever from California has left the internet in stitches after getting caught on camera eating an entire birthday cake at another dog's birthday party.

The video shared to TikTok on Saturday under the username @ourlovinglola, shows three golden retrievers, including the birthday girl, Lola, taking turns biting into her birthday cake when all of a sudden, the yellow Labrador steals it all away with one smooth bite as the other dogs look at him in awe.

The hilarious clip's text overlay reads: "Everyone has that one friend at the party who can't wait for cake."

If it was up to them, dogs would be eating the whole day, especially Labradors, who are known for their big appetite. But as a dog owner, do you know how much your dog should eat each day?

In a 2020 article in PetMD, veterinarian Jennifer Coates wrote that the size of your dog matters when calculating how much you should feed them. Smaller and toy breeds need much less food than bigger and more athletic canines.

Toy dogs that weigh up to 3 pounds need only about 139 calories during the day, while medium dogs up to 30 pounds require about 781 calories. Bigger dogs, such as those weighing up to 100 pounds, must have around 1,926 calories.

"Unless stated otherwise, these amounts give you the total that is recommended for your dog over a 24-hour period," Coates wrote.
