Cats are very smart creatures; in fact, their brain structure is about 90 percent similar to that of humans, and their intelligence is comparable to that of a 2-year-old child.

BondVet says that cats have complex brains that enable them to solve problems, remember past events, and understand human emotions.

The website adds that cats have excellent short- and long-term memories, and they can learn through observation, such as ringing bells or opening doors. They also recognize their names.

Some of the smartest breeds include Bengals, Siamese, and Abyssinians, but individual intelligence varies.

Moreover, cats are smart enough to make their own decisions, and aren't as easily influenced by social rewards as their canine counterparts.
