Woman Adopts Dog for $10, Hysterics Over How He Behaves on Walk

A woman has captured the joys and challenges of walking her rescue dog, leaving viewers online in hysterics as a result.

Kylie Judson, known online as @kylie.judson, has sparked widespread laughter and empathy after sharing how her beloved rescue animal, Brodi, sometimes walks on leash. The video, which was shared to TikTok on October 18, revealed that Judson had adopted the canine for just $10, and joked that she now manages "both" their anxiety levels.

Judson, a recent graduate of the University of Tampa working in marketing, adopted Brodi, a 3-year-old Labrador mix, during a particularly tough period in her life.

"I've had him since he was just a few months old, after rescuing him from a difficult past," Judson told Newsweek.

Brodi, likely coming from an abusive household, initially exhibited nervousness around certain noises and strangers, especially men. Viewers were able to see Brodi reacting poorly to being on a leash, causing a comedic yet relatable scene for many dog owners. This behavior, while humorous to viewers, highlights the ongoing journey that Judson and Brodi are on together.

Living in a busy city, Brodi often gets startled by loud noises such as engines, motorcycles, and garage doors, adding to the complexity of their walks.

"With a lot of patience and training, he's made incredible progress, but as you can see in the video, walks can still be a bit of a challenge," Judson said.

The marketing professional recalls a serendipitous meeting that led to Brodi becoming her "soulmate."

During a difficult time in college, she visited a humane society with the children she babysat at the time. As she was leaving, a man approached her with a 5-month-old Labrador in need of a home.

"My first instinct was to say yes, and as soon as he opened the trunk, I felt an instant connection," Judson said.

Upon learning that Brodi's birthday matched her late grandfather's, which also coincided with the anniversary of his passing, Judson felt it was a sign. Despite the man's reluctance to accept any monetary gift, Judson gave him all she had—$10. This small act of generosity changed both her and Brodi's lives forever.

Since that day, Judson has dedicated herself to providing a safe and loving environment for the dog she rescued. "It's rewarding to see so many people laughing along with me at his quirky behavior and still recognizing how much I love him unconditionally," she said.

The viral clip, while highlighting the lighthearted side of their walks, also underscores the progress the pair have made together. Several viewers on TikTok have responded to the video with humor, drawing on how difficult their own dogs can be, too.

"Mine was free and then $2500 because she ate a tampon," one viewer said.

Another added: "Mine was $100 ($3800 in training)"

The outpouring of advice from some other viewers has been heartwarming, with many offering training tips.

"He's truly my best friend, and I'd never give him up for anything," Judson said.

The post had been captioned: "My soulmate."
