Cat Grooming Dog on Couch Viewed by Over 4 Million: 'The Cutest Thing'

A pet owner caught her cat grooming her pit bull on camera and internet users can't cope with how sweet their relationship is.

The viral video shared on TikTok on Thursday under the username @tuckthepit, shows the dog lying on the couch, as his sister, a tabby tuxedo, sits very close to him, grooming his paws and face.

While it's not clear whether or not Tucker liked this unusual bath time, he sure didn't seem to put up a fight or any sort of resistance.

"Oh Tucker she loves you!" the poster can be heard saying. A caption shared with the post, which has so far been seen by 4.5 millions, and liked by 810,500, adds: "I cant believe I just witnessed this."

Many people might buy into the myth that cats and dogs are each others' worst enemy, but according to science that is simply not true!

A 2020 study published on science journal PLOS ONE, surveyed 1,270 people who owned both cats and dogs and found that the two species can easily cohabit with minimal to no conflict.

Dr. Nick Horniman, a veterinary surgeon with over 30 years of experience and the founder of the online pet pharmacy MyPetsVet, previously told Newsweek that not only can they live together like siblings, but it can also be completely normal for them to become close friends.

"Dogs and cats can form strong bonds, especially when raised together or introduced in a positive and safe environment. Their interactions reflect the mutual comfort and trust that has grown between the two of them," he said.

"In many cases, these interspecies friendships are beneficial, reducing feelings of loneliness for both pets, and they can be just as excited to see each other as our pets can be to see us when we return home each day."

What sets the basis for a good relationship between the two species is an appropriate introduction. Newsweek previously explained that it is crucial that you take things slowly in the beginning, and allow each of them to take their time.

The pets should be kept separate to start with, and have their own dedicated spaces, where they can spend time without being disturbed by their new sibling.

You should only allow them to start interacting without your supervision when they are visibly comfortable with each others' presence.

One user, Angela E, commented: "This is literally the cutest thing I've ever seen!!!!!"

Aeo said: "I swear there is something so special about a cat and dog bond."
