Couple Welcomes Cat Into Their Home, Then Comes the Revelation

A couple who found a random cat waltzing into their home quickly realized the feline looked familiar.

The two couldn't stop laughing in the November 3 TikTok video posted to the account @roimatawilkey. They don't know how he got in, but a cat randomly appeared, walking around like he owned the place. It dawned on them that they'd seen the cat before but they needed to double-check.

One of them walked to get a missing cat poster they'd come across to check if this random feline in their home was who they thought. The flyer had a picture of a cat printed on it, asking if anyone had seen him. He held it up against the cat. It couldn't have been any more obvious for the couple. This was the missing cat.

Even the cat gave it a sniff of approval, confirming their suspicions. The couple returned him to his owners, and now they could finally rest knowing their pet was safe and sound at home.

The cat's owner saw the clip and commented: "That's my baby Cookie. She's the sweetest. Thank you for getting her home."

"Sounds like she walked into the right house! I'm so glad she got home safely," another TikTok user commented.

Not every lost cat willingly walks into a home and gets returned as easily as it did for the feline in the clip. Many lost cats are scared and nervous as they've been turned around and can't find their way home. If you ever find yourself in this situation, consider following these steps provided by Catster to help increase the chances of reuniting the cat with its owner.

  1. You'll first want to asses the cat's behavior and surroundings for any dangers or concerns. Stay calm and avoid sudden movements, which could scare the cat away.
  2. Slowly and cautiously approach the cat. Use a soft voice, extend your hand for them to sniff and let them approach you at their own pace.
  3. Check for any identification tags or collars. If there is one with information, contact the owner immediately. However, if not, you'll need to secure the cat and visit a shelter or vet to check for a microchip.
  4. To safely secure the cat, use a carrier, towel or blanket. Catster recommends wearing heavy clothes and gloves to protect from scratches.
  5. Provide the cat with a safe and quiet space indoors with food, water and a litter box. Keep other animals away.
  6. Contact nearby animal shelters, rescue organizations and veterinary clinics and provide details about the cat to help them find its owner. Try posting about the found cat on flyers in the neighborhood or online. Be sure to include information about the found cat, photos and contact details.
