Puppy Attends Training Class, Internet Can't Cope With Her Antics
A puppy's obedience and good behavior at her training class has delighted viewers online.
The miniature Australian Labradoodle, named August, was captured showcasing her exceptional behavior during a puppy training class by sitting on cue and listening to her teacher. The clip, which had been shared to TikTok on November 12 by @_auggiethedoggie, filmed 8-month-old August sitting calmly in the room filled with dogs and people, living up to the label of "teacher's pet." The clip has been viewed more than 997,000 times to date.
An overlaid text on the video read: "POV: [Point of view] Your puppy is a teacher's pet, and this is how she behaves in training class."
"I got her a month before college graduation from UCLA," August's owner, who would prefer to keep their identity private, told Newsweek. "I quickly realized she was a very smart dog, and so I made sure to put her in as much training as I could—this particular video is at PetSmart training school.
"She is a star student, and loves to learn."
"She will do this the whole class…She is absolutely obsessed with academic validation," August's owner said in the caption of the post.
As viewers marveled at her composure, the clip has drawn attention not only to August's calm personality but also to the breed's natural affinity for training. Australian Labradoodles, known for their intelligence and friendly demeanor, are a hybrid breed that combines the traits of poodles and Labrador retrievers.
The resulting breed possess not just hypoallergenic coats but are also highly trainable, with their intelligence and ability to understand complex demands making them excellent candidates for obedience training and eventually therapy work.
The viral video has struck a chord with pet lovers across TikTok, drawing amused comments from dog owners who have shared how similarly or differently their own pets have fared at training classes.
"Mine too," one viewer, @emily0284703, said. "The BEST I've ever seen her act is at training classes but at home won't listen or practice her skills."
"Mine to and is an absolute menace at home," another, @angelas675, added.
August's owner says that the canine is a "star student," who really focuses on her teacher.
"She sits in the center and really emphasizes her focus on the instructor," they said. "I have been absolutely shocked by the online response to this video!"
"I am so glad that the world is getting to see the dog I love so dearly, she really is special."
