Golden Retriever Shares Her 'Happy Face'âInstantly Goes Viral
A golden retriever's hilarious facial expressions have quickly made her a star on social media, and internet users can't cope with how cute she is.
In a viral TikTok TikTok shared in October under the username @sadie_gurl1, the pup, Sadie, can be seen making several different facial expressions for the camera, including happy, sad, mad and surprised faces.
"She's very expressive this gurl!" read a caption shared along with the post.
Dogs are very expressive animals. Indeed, they can make 16 different facial expressions, according to a Dogster article medically reviewed by Dr. Chyrle Bonk.
They can make hard eye contact or soft eye contact, and you may also notice them squinting their eyes and blinking when they are trying to understand what you are doing.
They also often make side eyes and raise their eyebrows, tilting their head when they are curious or lowering it down when showing submission. They flatten their ears when they are in fear, and lick their lips after eating or when they are stressed.
Among their facial expressions, they can also yawn, smile, grimace, wrinkle their nose, or pant when they are overheated.
Our dogs are not only able to make different faces to express their moods, but they can also tell our mood based on our facial expression.
A study carried out by researchers from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna in Austria, showed a group of dogs photos of 15 people making happy or angry faces, and the pups got them all right, even when they only saw half face.
These dogs were so good at reading people's emotions that they got it right even when they were shown pictures of people they had never seen before.
The video quickly went viral on social media and it has so far received over 6.9 million views and 1.2 million likes on the platform.
One user, McKenna McKay, commented: "Happy face is actually guilty face in our household."
MYSTERY_MAN said: "Oscar winning expression."
Karen Hatch added: "I love all these faces. my retriever does this and also a funny face where she only shows her top teeth on one side. big goofballs."
Newsweek reached out to sadie_gurl1 for comment via email. We could not verify the details of the case.
