Golden Retriever Pup Born With Missing PawâRefuses To Let It Hold Her Back
What could possibly make a golden retriever any cuter? Internet viewers have found the answer after Cow, the adorable three-legged golden puppy, went viral on TikTok.
When dog owner Holly Smith, 31, says that her life centers around animals, she really means it. Not only does she have multiple cats and dogs in her New York home, but she also works at a veterinary clinic by day. Her hands are pretty full already, but when a breeder told her about "a tripod golden" born on September 24, there was no hesitation about taking her in, too.
Cow, the golden retriever puppy, was born without her front right paw, but she refuses to let that hold her back. It is unclear what exactly caused Cow's deformity, but Smith told Newsweek that it's "possible that her umbilical cord was wrapped around her paw," cutting off the circulation.
After giving Cow a loving home where she can thrive, Smith posted an adorable video on TikTok (@hoochthegreatdane) introducing the sweet pup to the internet. Viewers cannot get enough of the three-legged puppy, and the clip went viral with over 8.6 million views and more than 1.1 million likes on TikTok in a matter of days.
"I work at the vet that her breeder comes to, and she called to let us know about Cow," Smith said. "The breeder chose us to give her a home, and Cow is very much loved by her new family. She is the sweetest dog, and we do not regret adding her to our pack."
Although Cow has to hop along on her three legs instead of walking and running normally, she doesn't let that slow her down. The sweet pup has bundles of energy and still loves causing mischief whenever she can by chewing things she shouldn't.
Smith has been amazed by Cow's resilience since bringing her home, and she says there is simply nothing that gets in her way or stops her from being just like the other dogs.
"She tries to keep up with all her siblings and impresses everyone every day. Moo and Cow are the best of friends. They're not quite 6.5 months apart in age, and they hate to be away from each other," Smith continued.
Smith has been stunned by the viral reaction to Cow's video online, adding that she is "shocked Cow got as much attention as she did." Not wanting to disappoint the golden retriever's new fans, Smith has posted more clips of her dog to show her daily antics.
In just a few days, the tripod pup has become an internet sensation, and the TikTok clip has amassed over 1,600 comments so far.
One comment reads: "I've always wanted a cow. Now you're saying they come in golden retriever form."
Another TikTok user wrote: "I have a tripod and he's the BEST dog."
A third person added: "Ohhh, how precious! I love this doggo."
