Moment Puppy Hilariously Runs for Cover Over What He Sees on TV
A puppy came face-to-face with a bear and lived to tell the tale — Bear In The Big Blue House, that is.
Rodney the puppy is an Irish doodle — a mix between an Irish setter and poodle — and lives in Brighton, England, with his owner Katy.
Despite being part of Katy's family for only a short while, he has "settled in really well and is one spoiled boy already, particularly by his grandparents who he know how to work with those eyes," proud owner Katy told Newsweek.
Now the internet has fallen head-over-heels for Rodney after a video of him experiencing an episode of 90s kids' TV series Bear in the Big Blue House has gone viral.
Shared to Katy's TikTok account @katybuble96 on November 27, it shows the puppy watching with interest as the main character, Bear, welcomes viewers into his home.
The large character begins sniffing at the camera, as though sniffing at the viewer, spooking Rodney.
As Bear got closer to the camera, sniffing furiously, Rodney jumped up and quickly ran over to his owner, watching the rest of the scene in the safety of her lap, while Katy could be heard giggling as she recorded.
She wrote in the caption: "Poor thing is now traumatized."
"He's only 9 weeks old and such a curious little thing," Katy told Newsweek. "He hasn't met any big dogs yet but I've got a clue how it might go down now."
TikTok users loved the clip, which has been viewed over 370,000 times in just over a day. One commenter wrote: "We have an Irish doodle puppy and she is the EXACT same. They're so funny."
Plenty were moved by Rodney's reaction, with one writing: "Came to sit with his sfe space," and another saying he "came to be protected by mum."
And as it turns out Rodney wasn't the only one unnerved by Bear's sniffing, as one commenter admitted: "My biggest fear was this exact part when I was younger."
Rodney's breed is relatively new and has not been recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) but the organization describes Irish setters as sweet-tempered, high-spirited family dogs who are big kids at heart.
Poodles, meanwhile, are described as incredibly smart, affectionate with family and good with young children.
Reacting to Rodney's viral fame, Katy told Newsweek she is "glad he's putting a smile on people's faces like he does ours."
