Woman Raises Lamb and Rottweiler Together—Turns Out 'Weirder' Than Expected

Social media gives people a glimpse into the different combinations of animals being raised together, and a recent video of a dog and lamb took the internet by storm.

It's common to see dogs living or working with farm animals. Dogs provide security to farms and animals, help herd livestock, and even detect pests. Plus, their companionship doesn't go unnoticed by other animals.

However, a September 23 video by user @rachelizabethx shows a Rottweiler befriending a lamb instead of working. His friendship has given the lamb the confidence to be more dog-like, but she can't get enough.

The owner wrote that raising them together has been "weirder" than expected.

The two animals are seen frolicking together through a field in the clip. It looked like the two were racing back to their owner, with the Rottweiler holding a commanding lead. Not wanting to come in last place, the lamb sprinted past the dog with all her might.

The caption reads: "She gives Main Character vibes daily."

Viewers couldn't get enough of this lamb living her best life. They called her "fierce," and one commenter said they were "more terrified of the sheep than the dog." The owner agreed: "She is not to be messed with! Nothing more dangerous than a sheep that thinks she's a Rottweiler."

Another commenter joked: "I had to watch 5 times to check what this breed of dog is."

Newsweek reached out to @rachelizabethx via TikTok for comment.

Owning a Pet Lamb

Vet Explains Pets says raising lambs as pets is a growing trend. Lambs are gentle, easy to handle and respond well to humans. However, those interested in getting a pet lamb should check with their local laws and regulations, as there could be restrictions in place.

Owning a pet lamb can benefit those conscious of their environmental impact. Lambs can help maintain the grassy yards, reducing the need for lawnmowers. Known for their docile nature, lambs can also make excellent therapy animals. Like cats and dogs, owning a lamb comes with responsibilities, which becomes an excellent teaching opportunity for children.

Although it could be a fun and rewarding experience, owning a pet lamb still requires patience and work. These animals can become destructive if they are bored or do not get enough exercise. As far as their health goes, they are susceptible to parasites and infections. They will need regular veterinary check-ups.
