Hysterics As Retired Police Dog Gets To Relive His Puppy Days: 'Anarchy'

Internet users have been left in stitches by the chaotic new life of a former police dog who is relishing his retirement by causing nonstop mischief.

TikTok user @k9dax.k9dragon shared a hilarious video showing exactly how much fun the retired police dog appears to be having during this new chapter. The German shepherd can be seen rolling around in the yard with his toys, jumping on just about all the furniture, playing by the pool, and even going to the store to get some well-earned treats.

There's no denying that the dog is living his best life and making the most of his retirement. Indeed, his owner even joked in the caption alongside the video that his dog is "reliving his puppy days."

After the footage was shared online in November, it has delighted social-media users who can't get enough of the dog's new lease of life. In just a few days, the clip has amassed over 2.5 million views and more than 449,000 likes on TikTok at the time of writing. Newsweek has contacted @k9dax.k9dragon via TikTok for comment.

While German shepherds and Belgian Malinois are most commonly used as police dogs, the National Police Dog Foundation highlights that other breeds can also offer valued skillsets. These include basset hounds, bloodhounds, and Labrador retrievers, which are known for their tracking and detection talents.

Police dogs typically serve in the force for anywhere between six and nine years, and there are two main classifications of police K-9s: patrol and detection. As explained by the National Police Dog Foundation, the role of patrol dogs is to provide officer protection, suspect apprehension, area clearance, and security in controlled areas. Alternatively, detection dogs are used to find either narcotics or explosives; they are trained to find one of the two, but not both.
