Neighbor's Dog Comes for Playdate With Labrador, Things Don't Go To Plan
Hearts are melting over how a playdate between two doggy neighbors didn't quite go as a Labrador planned.
In a November 30 video posted by TikTok user @syd_and_the_kids, the Labrador, Baine, sat on the couch with his head on the armrest. He looked defeated as he thought the neighbor's dog, Brody, paying a visit would mean endless playtime. But instead, Brody took his visit as an opportunity to catch up on, apparently, much-needed sleep.
The camera panned over to reveal Brody sprawled out on another couch like he owned the place. He was fast asleep. He didn't care Baine was waiting for him to wake up. He needed to rest up before fully participating and giving it his all.
Luckily, Baine didn't seem too offended that Brody decided to nap first. He waited patiently and respectfully while his friend slept, his tail wagging in anticipation that Brody would get up soon. The only thoughts that seemed to circle his mind were that there was playing to be done and they were wasting valuable time.
Despite this not being the playdate Baine had in mind, it wouldn't be the last time Brody comes over.
"Brody is an 'only dog' and we have always had multiple dogs in our house," the owner told Newsweek. "We also live in a remote area, so the dogs aren't fenced in. [Brody] usually comes over daily and our dogs go next door and we, of course, dog sit when his family is away."
This open-door policy made it easy for Brody to feel comfortable in this home. The owner explained that it's not unusual for him to come over, grab himself a treat and then head back home. He'll sometimes visit and take a nap before leaving again.
The TikTok video amassed over 88,500 views, 11,400 likes and 27 comments as of Monday. People were calling it "sweet" and "so cute," and a sign he feels comfortable in this house.
"There is no nap like a nap on your friend's couch," wrote a viewer.
Another jokingly added: "That dog lives with toddlers obviously."
A third person said: "Oh, no! I hope he had a good nap and then you had the deserved playtime."
The good news is these dogs squeezed in some play time. The owner said the dogs went outside after Brody woke up. However, they only played for a few minutes before Brody left and Baine came back inside.
