New Owner Shares Heartbreaking Reason 'No One Wanted' 8-Week-Old Puppy

A video of a puppy overlooked by people due to having one ear now living his best life has melted hearts.

One would think a dachshund puppy would be snapped up in seconds. However, Nemo turned out to be the unfortunate exception. He was the last in his litter to be picked up. It wasn't that people didn't show interest in him, but his looks dissuaded them from taking action.

Nemo's owner, Abbie Godbold, told Newsweek via Instagram that his mother had become aggressive around her pups and could no longer be near them.

Some dogs cannot adapt to motherhood, according to Wag Walking. Their stress might make them unwilling to relax or bond, and unfortunately, some dog breeds are more prone to harming their puppies.

In Nemo's case, his mother bit off his ear not long after he was born. To no fault of his own, this made him undesirable to potential adopters.

"His siblings all got homes. He had multiple visits, but they would say things like, 'We want a dog with two ears,'" Godbold said. "So my friend tagged me in the plea post. I went to meet him, and the rest is history."

Only a few weeks after bringing him home, Nemo has forgotten about the rejection he experienced early in life. Instead, he is living a life of luxury.

The December 6 Instagram video posted to the account @wreckitralphie___ shows Nemo bundled up in a blanket, enjoying his time at a holiday market. He's been tasting the sweet life, too, sampling whipped cream.

The caption reads: "Couldn't love him more if I tried, 2 ears or none."

It became a natural fit as soon as Godbold brought Nemo home. She said it feels like he's always been part of the family. Plus, he gets along well with the other dogs and cats.

As far as his ear goes, Godbold said Nemo doesn't require any medication or special treatment. She's prepared, however, if anything comes up.

"I'd imagine I'll have to be careful in the cold, wet weather as he may be more prone to ear infections," she said.

Viewers immediately fell in love with Nemo, and as of Wednesday, the Instagram video amassed over 234,000 views and 18,900 likes.

"Oh my God, this is so adorable. It looks like you're living your best life," said one user.

"Pure love and compassion. Bless you," a second person commented.

"Everyone deserves that forever love and all the first experiences that come from being safe and respected," another commenter wrote.
