Ragdoll Cat's Lounging Pose Has Internet in Stitches: 'Mighty Fine'
A cat owner from New York filmed her feline chilling in a very unusual position and internet users can't stop laughing at it.
In a viral TikTok post shared in November under the username @sirgeorgetheragdoll, the fluffy cat, named Sir George, can be seen sitting on the windowsill with his belly up and his back against the glass, looking just like a turkey.
"When you don't have to shop for thanksgiving because you already have a juicy turkey at home," reads layover text in the clip.
The poster, Laura, told Newsweek that her two-and-a-half-year-old fur baby is the best cat anyone could hope for, and shares lots of her passions.
"He loves classical music, chicken, cuddling, watching documentaries about lions and leopards, and sleeping with his fluffy belly exposed. He's a really social and friendly guy that likes meeting new people and lives for attention and praise.
"He's got a big heart and a big personality. He looks much larger than he actually is because he is so fluffy!"
Cats are known for being agile creatures and for their ability to get into all sorts of positions without issues, and that is because their bone structure allows them to twist and turn their body in a way no other animal can.
Their flexible spine has 53 vertebrae, 20 more than humans, allowing them a great range of motion that would be impossible for most other animals. Moreover, their collarbone is not directly attached to their other bones, which means that they can move their shoulders more freely, according to Dr. Jess Kirk via Vet Explains Pets.
Their muscles are also powerful and elastic, and their sense of balance and spatial orientation is unmatched.
Some of the most common positions cats assume when sitting down include the loaf position, the frog pose, the half loaf, the sphinx position, and the shoulder sit, among others. But what does each position mean?
If your cat is resting like a perfect loaf, it means that they are feeling comfortable in their environment. If they look like a frog, they are relaxed and most likely playful. When they assume the half-load position, they are feeling relaxed but still alert.
If you spot your cat sitting in a sphinx-like position, that's a sign that they are feeling alert and ready to pounce. Meanwhile when they sit on your shoulder, it means that they trust you and love you.
The video quickly went viral on social media and it has so far received over 3.1 million views and 458,500 likes on the platform.
One user, Chelsea, commented: "He's doing Sabrina Carpenters Juno pose from La night 2."
Charlie said: "What a distinguished little gentleman. Yes yes, very distinguished."
Big Mouthed added: "He's just laying there with his [little] turkey legs spread eagle. He knows he's looking mighty fiiineee."
