Owner Walks Shih Tzu in the Snow, Has Sudden Realization About Dog
A dog owner walking through the snow immediately sank in and thought the same would happen to her dog, but what a recent video shows left viewers laughing.
The December 9 TikTok clip starts with the owner slowly making her way through the snow. With each step, the snow gave in and her foot pushed through to the bottom. Then Millie, a shih tzu and cavalier mix, stomped by, but unlike her owner, she made no impact on the snow. This showed the surprised owner just how tiny her dog is.
Being on the smaller side of dog breeds, Millie has a light weight that's truly apparent when walking in the snow. She had no trouble trudging along. The snow didn't "acknowledge" her presence. It didn't pull her down, as the snow did for her owner.
Still, it looked as if Millie felt a little hurt that she didn't receive the same treatment. As she walked further, her stomps became harder as she tried mimicking her owner's prints in the snow.
The caption reads: "She's as light as a feather."
The clip has attained over 1.9 million views and nearly 430,000 likes on TikTok, and viewers couldn't stop laughing at how the dog's weight made no impact on the snow.
"Awww the confused tiny stomps," pointed out one user.
Others called her a "fairy" and an "elf."
Someone shared their dog's experience: "This was my dog last winter until he randomly hit the softest patch of snow and sunk."

Snow Safety for Dogs
While some areas of the country might not get as much snow as Millie's owner saw, owners should still take some precautions to keep their dogs safe. The tolerance for frigid temperatures differs for each dog breed.
The first step is to check the temperature before walking your dog outside. Most canines can go on walks if the temperature doesn't fall below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, but those with shorter coats will be more sensitive, according to the website Dogster.
Owners should be cautious about walking areas where the sidewalks or roads are salted, as the texture and chemicals can irritate or cut a dog's paw pads. To prevent this and keep your dog warm, use wax or have your dog wear booties. It's important to clean your dog's paws after walking outside.
Dogster suggests shoveling out an area until there is grass to create a potty area, which will encourage dogs to do their business faster and spend less time outside. Owners might also adjust the walking schedule, if possible, to the warmer parts of the day.
