Dog Reacts to Hearing Voice of 'Scary Man' Coming From the Vents
A dog's reaction to an unusual voice coming through a vent in her house left her never wanting to go near it again.
Curiosity got the best of Peaches the English bulldog when a strange noise started seeping through the house vents, when one of her owners went downstairs to fix the duct.
Because the vent goes from one floor to the next, the owner thought it would be fun to try speaking to Peaches through it.
In the December 5 TikTok video posted to the account @jennlenice, Peaches stood next to the vent after she heard her name and stared down. Her ears perked up as the noise continued. Every so often Peaches turned back to her other owner, Jen, as if to check if she heard the "scary man" too.
"She looked extremely confused so I picked up my phone to start recording," Jen told Newsweek via TikTok.
Little did Peaches know it was only Jen's husband downstairs talking through the vent. She kept trying to investigate, looking through the grate from different angles but she still could not spot the source. Then it only got creepier.
"My husband didn't know I was taking a video and I had no idea he was about to speak to her like Pennywise," Jen said, referencing the name of the character 'It' from the Stephen King horror novel and subsequent film. "Paired with the eerie music from my TV, I had paused a game, it made for quite the video."
Jen tried comforting Peaches and reassuring her that it was 'Dad' in the vent, but that didn't help. The situation was enough for Peaches to determine she never wanted to go near the vent again.
"Since that day I took the video, she will occasionally walk by the vents and stare down them for a minute, or give them kind of a side eye like she's trying to say, 'no one's fooling me mom, I know better than to get too close,'" Jen said.
Viewer Reactions
Peaches wasn't the only one creeped out about the situation. The mixture of eerie music and voice left viewers immediately comparing it to the scary movie "It."
Jen said: "Lots of people expecting a red balloon to come up from the vent, or maybe Peaches in a yellow raincoat."
Knowing the outcome of the movie, someone warned the dog: "Don't do it Peaches! I've seen this movie before."
"The music ambiance with the calling tone of the voice.... just pure horror magic," wrote a viewer.
Another added: "Peaches has one foot out the door."
