Woman Forced To Run Over As She Sees What Cat Doing Outside Neighbor's Home

With packages constantly being delivered to homes this holiday season, porch pirates are in full swing and believe it or not, unexpected furry friends are trying to get in on the free items.

One cat couldn't help himself when he spotted several grocery bags filled to the brim outside the neighbor's front door. In this cat's mind, those bags were his for the taking since no one else seemed to be bringing them inside. He took it as an opportunity for a free holiday feast and started rummaging through the bags.

However, in the November 26 TikTok video posted to the account @kenziehoerauf, the cat's owner spotted him from across the street and immediately ran to stop him. It appears he already pulled an item out of a bag. He was face-deep in the food when she scooped him up and carried him back to the house.

There was no protest from the cat. He accepted that he had been caught red-pawed.

The caption reads: "The guy could sniff out a block of cheese from anywhere."

Viewer Reactions

As of Friday, the TikTok clip had over 1.2 million views, 57,400 likes, and 1,195 comments. Viewers couldn't stop laughing at this cat's determination to get food and yet, many were the least bit surprised.

"He just dangles with no regrets," said one viewer.

Others wrote what the cat was thinking: "And I'll do it again!" or "If not for me, why is it out there?"

Another person asked: "They literally be out here embarrassing us daily and we snuggle their sweet little faces at night. How do they hold so much power over us?"

Newsweek reached out to @kenziehoerauf via TikTok for additional information.

Why Do Cats Steal Food?

We give them all their portions, extra treats, and then some, yet many cats will do everything in their power to steal more food. So what gives? Owners can blame this klepto behavior on a cat's natural instinct: hunting.

An article from Pets Radar reported that it's natural for cats to grab anything they can find. The reason for stealing could be simply that they're hungry. However, they might also do it for attention or the stealing could be a sign of illness.

Cats especially view human food as something to steal because it's different. They believe they're asserting dominance by attempting to steal our food. In their minds, they think it is in their "right" to take off our plates.
