How Dog Walks With Treats Involved vs No Treats Leaves Viewers in Stitches

Going on a walk is often a dog's favorite part of the day as it allows them to explore new scents and sounds. Walks give dogs mental and physical stimulation while also providing bonding moments with their owners. But not every dog jumps at the opportunity to walk around the neighborhood.

Millie the basset hound is not one to crave long walks around her city blocks. Basset hounds need a moderate amount of exercise, which is more than other dog breeds of a similar size, WebMD reported. But being on the lazier side, Millie found a walking system that works best for her involving little effort on her part.

In a June 16 TikTok video posted to the account @sillymilliethebasset, Millie is out for a stroll with her owners. However, this is her walk and the only way to get her to go is with treat motivation. Her owner will have a dog treat in hand and hold it out in front of Millie. Smelling the yummy goodness ahead of her, Millie keeps her pace up.

But once that treat is gone, she melts into the sidewalk unwilling to move.

The caption reads: "If there ain't a treat, I ain't walkin."

Whenever a treat is involved, Millie's tiny paws on stubby legs are running full speed ahead as if she were training for the Olympics. But she figured, why put in all that effort when no treats are presented?

She knows she has her owners wrapped around her paw too because if she stays glued to the ground long enough, they will pick her up and carry her the rest of the way home.

'Has Y'all Well Trained'

The hilarious TikTok video amassed over 340,500 comments, 64,600 likes and 169 comments. Cracking up, viewers flooded the comment section with their disbelief over the dog's ability to trick her owners.

"She has y'all well trained," wrote a viewer.

The official TikTok account for Google commented: "If the walking route doesn't have a little treat...we don't want it."

Another user joked: "I too think I deserve little treats for exercising." Hard work deserves as many treats as one's heart desires.

"I'm glad this is a universal basset hound puppy experience," said a dog owner.
