Boyfriend Babysits Girlfriend's DogâIt Doesn't Go as Planned
A dog owner in England has left social media viewers laughing after revealing what happened when she asked her boyfriend to watch their dog while she was out.
In a post shared Tuesday on TikTok under the username @botocs, the rescue dog, which the owner believes is a mix of French bulldog, dachshund and Pekingese, can be seen popping out of her neighbor's garden bushes as he asks her if she had been stealing his apples.
A caption explains: "My neighbor sent me this video while my boyfriend was meant to be watching our dog."
The poster, Sam, told Newsweek that the 2-year-old pup is a rescued former breeding dog that was kept in a cage for most of her life. She was used for breeding expensive French bulldogs before Sam managed to rescue her.
"When she arrived, she was very quiet and shy. But after she settled in, we discovered her real personality—food-obsessed—and loves to howl the house down whenever we leave her alone for five minutes," Sam said.
The poster said she and her neighbor have a gate connecting their garden, with a lock that recently broke. So both their dogs take the opportunity to visit each other's homes.
"Bo has since discovered she can just push the gate open to get into my neighbor's garden and eat all the apples that have fallen off their trees. I have had to retrieve Bo several times from their garden," Sam said.
"My neighbor doesn't mind and also has a dog that wanders into my garden and house sometimes too. I think we both welcome the dog visits, so fixing the handle isn't a priority. My neighbor has started picking up the apples so she won't get sick, though."
The American Kennel Club says that apples are good treats for dogs because they are a great source of vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium and antioxidants. They're also full of fiber.
While they are a low-calorie treat, each apple has about 19 grams of sugar, so a whole apple can be too much for a dog to eat in one go.
The video quickly went viral on TikTok and has received over 71,300 views and 5,394 likes.
One user, Olivia Irving, commented: "So lovely to see a long nose and not a flat face absolutely beautiful dog."
Jira said: "I was half expecting the boyfriend to be sat there with the dog eating apples."
