Cat Mesmerized by Woman Singing to Him: 'Enjoyed Every Second'
Soaking up every last note, one cat didn't move from his seat after a woman started singing to him.
Reddit user jayjaydajay, Jake, captured a beautiful moment between his sister and orange cat Judge that delighted viewers in the subreddit channel r/OneOrangeBraincell on June 26. Jake and his sister Sarah sat on the floor with Judge joining them.
His sister, dressed in cat ears and using a balloon's helium for assistance, started singing to his cat. The cat was locked in. Mesmerized. He couldn't get enough of the song and listened to every note.
The caption on the Reddit post reads: "My sister sang to my cat and he enjoyed every second of it. I don't know whether to be jealous or confused. Help me out."
They don't know if Judge was lost in the sauce from everything going on—high-pitched helium voice, her dressed up or the catnip tea—but either way, Jake said in the comment section that the cat was sad when she left.
"I'm sure it won't be the last time now that she knows she can steal my cat's heart through her singing," Jake told Newsweek through Reddit messaging.
Singing to Cats
Music is not only powerful for humans, but also for our pets. A tune can slow a pet's heart rate and calm its nervous system. Pet parents might turn on music to help their fur baby relax. Or, like the sister in this clip, owners might use their voices to serenade their pets.
Singing to your cat surprisingly provides several benefits to their health, even if you can't keep a tune. Vet Explains Pets, a website run by Dr. Jess Kirk, reported serenading is a bonding experience between an owner and their cat. It creates a sense of closeness and intimacy. It also gives cats a form of enrichment, promotes their overall well-being, improves their mood and reduces anxiety or depression.
But like humans, pets will have their personal preferences about music genres or in this case, tones and pitches. Cats will likely find a soothing and gentle voice more appealing than a loud and abrasive one.

"OP, I am sorry, but it is over for you. Your cat disowned you and adopted your sister," commented a Redditor.
Although the owner is nervous his cat picked his sister over him, one person pointed out the positive: "That's a better outcome than with my cat who starts complaining and suffering and meowing when my girlfriend starts singing."
Another shared a similar experience: "My big orange guy flops into my arms and stares up at me whenever I sing to him, it's the cutest freaking thing."
